Through The Eyes of a Child

We had just moved in to our new home and standing on the back deck admiring our new view. We were so excited we finally found what we had been dreaming about for such a long time.

While dreaming we talked about our perfect home....what we each wished to find. My husband wanted a ranch style home and even included ceiling beams in his wish, my oldest son (then 10 years old) wanted a tree house, my youngest son (only a year old at the time) didn't voice his opinions and I wanted trees! Lots of trees...and couldn't decide if I wanted a pool or a fireplace more. (I wasn't really good at wishing back then) While taking my oldest son to school I would drive through neighborhoods on my return trip to see what was around. One day I saw a house for sale by owners....it seemed perfect to me but we weren't quite ready to buy yet but we still dreamed.

I saw an ad in the paper a while later about a home for sale. I gathered the family and we decided it wouldn't hurt to look. The owners gave us directions and a time to visit. When we arrived I was surprised it was the home I had passed by and admired  what seemed a long time ago. Once inside I was amazed...the living room had the ceiling beams .....and a fireplace....it was also a brick ranch style home.....we looked around and it was much larger than it seemed from the outside.....we went to the back deck and saw the pool! and walking the property there was a tree house too!! A 3 story tree house!!!

That day we were on the back deck feeling like the luckiest people in the universe my youngest son was pulling on me and saying, "mommy yook, mommy yook!" and pointing up. (he hadn't learned to make the "L" sound  yet). I looked ......and not really seeing anything to get excited about. I saw the underside of the gutters and the roof top....yes, it was our new home but my view didn't see any remarkable beauty.... He was insistent though . "Mommy, yook!!" He was so cute and smiling and dancing around a little I decided to pick him up and give him a hug......

Then I saw what he saw.. In a way I would never have imagined could happen , branches from two different  trees had formed a frame around the moon....a perfect crescent moon. It seemed it had been hung there just for us .....another gift from the universe...

Seeing things in a different way.....through a child's eyes.....opened my own.
