Your question: "First I need to know what is happening, why is he doing this"

 

I see he is worrying about money or over a money situation. He is quite discontent in this area in some way.....he is also not too happy with his emotional out look right now...he is walled off or declining social  invitations. I see his finances are ok but he is holding on to them to make sure they don't go away...he is seeking a guarantee of some things. He has an empty feeling inside and is searching within..I see your words  hurt him and he just backs away..he doesn't want to fight. yes, I understand he said he was coming and didn't but this is how he feels

He is feeling trapped in parts of his life like there is no way out for him....if he turns one way there are obstacles and if he turns another just another obstacle. I see he does love you...I see a reconciliation and  giving and receiving love.

 

He is taking his time....this isn't to hurt you but to make sure all goes well. You may need to hold of on being angry or yelling or things like that...it puts distance between you both.

Something involving work is happening and I get he hasn't told you all about his life or finances and things like that.

 

Something with a career change is going on and this is on his mind the most...doesn't mean you're not important but this has to be first for him right now and he hopes you can understand this....disagreeing with his choices will only put more distance between you.....

 

He is looking back on times when things were easier and simple....he misses those times.
